Houston Academy congratulates Mr. Hill, Mrs. Gaudiano and Ms. Gilbert recipients of the Aldine Education Foundation Innovative Teaching Grant award! These outstanding staff members will receive $5000 toward Houston Academy’s, “Gone STEMing! Learning Through Robotics” program. EV3 Robotics has given us a different way to use technology that doesn’t only involve computers. While computer programming is part of the implementation, the funded robotics is providing us different ways to instruct lessons on the 21st Century Skills and STEM objectives. Students will gain valuable skills in programming and coding through the use of Lego MindStorm EV3 robots. Students will be able to compete in robotic competitions at the district level as well as regional competitions. This will give students an opportunity to see and take part in events that they might not have the opportunity to do. This will give them valuable skills that they can use later in life and help them in their careers. The student will develop their individual skill as well as team collaboration.
